how it started....

I was about 14 years of age when i was totaly interested in engine techniques.
On the LTS i was always busy with the real mopeds and not the plastic tupperware what was already comming into our lives.

On one day someone came up with a honda dax riding on the school-square, making a wheely and the sound that the thing made me interested.
After studying the dax i figured out it was foustroke and i wanted to know how it works and flourished a preference for the more difficult technique of fourstroke with valves.
My first moped  was unfortunately not an Honda but a Indian 50 four stroke ..
I began wit an immitation of Honda and that was teh beginning of the fourstroke virus..
The AMI 50(amercan motor Industry) was most of the times broke or run terrible.
Sometimes it kicked back at my legs causing me to limp for days.
Last ride was a warr to get home..and run like a steam engine..people getteing verry mad at me because of smoke trail for around 50 meters behind me.
At home the oil sump was completely empty (finaly the damm thing was exit/game over so i could save money for the real stuff)
The Frame was verry stable and the complete moped was extreme luxury for its time...
Mr Honda gould have take a look at it to learn....
Real bearings in the wheel in stead of bike-related cups/conus with lose balls
Thing wa realy quick for a 50cc and crossed about 60 with low petrolconsumption (when it runs)

Under teh seat was a lot of space to put the lock and handshoes etc etc
Unfortualy there was no lock so in a few days no stuf under seat anymore accept for the spark-plug and its key because they wont fit a 2 smoke engine
There was one big problem with the bike; there was no Vin number inside only the framnumber and the typenumber.
In holland that was a crime..
I put a real honda motor under; a Honda ps50 engine with a 3 speed engine, handcontroled.
After the last warning of the police i put it in the barn.

After this a relative gave me an Honda PC50 from 1968 in green and white.
Finaly a reliable moped but this time because of the nails in the cilinderhead in stead of valves it was slow....real slow...when it dit 45 it was a windy day with wind in the back..

In between i bought a Honda pf50 Amigo wit an pushrod engine; this model run exactly 45 and that was a time saver to get to school.

After a summer job in the holiday i had enough money to buy the real stuf; a honda ss50....
A few monthes later there was an advertisement in the newspaper; honda ss50 in good condition for about 1300 gulden.
Of course i called them to make an apointment and everything worked out perfectly so in the evening i was on my honda ss50 riding home with a real smile..
It dit about 70km/hour and it was a  real short ride..
Feelings?? super!!!
Sound?? linke thunder...
Ok i was sold...this was it...and now it realy started..

By the extra parts i got was a parts list from a 1967 honda ss50m 5 speed..
What the hell...5 speeds?? ...50cc...aloy cylinder...19mm carb...85km/our crosspeed??
After reading the book, the warr began to get the parts what made the ss50m so fast; the gearbox, the special cylinder head, the aloy cylinder with high presure piston, fast camshaft, special rockers, fast advance flywheel, 19mil carb....etc etc
After a lot of asambling it was there....

50cc 5 speed and dit about 85km/hour......with spare throtle....oops
